Do you use ROS?
« on: January 30, 2017, 04:59:07 AM »
I tried to get an opinion on ROS (Robotic Operating System) in General Discussions.  Got 56 view but 0 responses.

Let's make it real simple:

Do you use ROS in your robots?

I would really appreciate a simple yes or no.  But if you do say yes, giving a brief description of your robot would be helpful.

Never tried it myself. I'd be interested in opinions too though.

Thanks for your responses Yahmez, MEgg, and Bajdi.

Looking at your robots it is clear you would not use ROS.  Even for mine I probably don't need it, but at some point a may leverage some of the ROS libraries for OpenCV, Neural Nets, and stuff like that.

Yahmez, you have some cool little robots.  Nice videos.

Hi,

I did actually look into it at some point but quickly realized it was like trying to kill a mosquito with a sledgehammer... Pretty complex stuff in there can't say I understood much of it :/

Then I got distracted and shelved it ...

Thanks tinhead.  It took months for me to make progress and it does seem like overkill.  And I am constantly distracted...
