Programming issues with my Prusa I3[SOLVED]
« on: June 24, 2016, 12:53:26 PM »
Dear: RR

Just letting you know  a few months ago I totaled my 3D printer motherboard. Anyways recently my 3D printer motherboard came in the mail the other day. Since then I have been wiring and programming my 3D printer. I ran into an issue where the motherboard is not controlling my stepper motors or my LCD display. I am not worried about my display though since it hasn't worked once and I think it is broken. The stepper motors on the other hand I have seen working and they should be working after everything I have done to the motherboard. The only things I have done to the motherboard within the time the stepper motors stopped working is upload different firmware to get the motherboard working. Just to let you know I have tried two firmwares Marlin and Repetier and none of them are working to get the stepper motors to drive. What should I do? Thanks!!!

From: Noah

Thanks for all your help. The problem is solved but it looks as if I have more issues. Thanks!!!

few things first " 3D printer motherboard" which one RAMPS?.

the LCD:  check to see if the Diode 1 installed  on the ramps it sits under the Y axis driver.
is the lcd set in FW?

with Marlin you set the right board  in FW and set the endstop and direction, drop a link to the config.h file on drop box for us to see

then add some pics of the set  up and how you powering the  board?.

Thanks I will check to make sure diode one is installed. Also I am using ramps 1.4. Sorry I did forget to say that. What is FW? I have never heard of that. Here is the configuration.h from marlin. Thank you.

There was a diode 1 on the board I checked. I also added a rather messy picture of my setup. Thanks!!!

I fixed some of the wires you should know. It was a fire hazard and I fixed it with help from bajdi and Mogul. Here are some pictures of it now. Also I am very sorry for not using the firmware from the manufacturer. I will send a link to the manufacturer files now.

Okay guys bajdi told me to upload the code from Geeetech website which actually had firmware for my printer and I did some editing to the configuration.h to make it work. First of all I changed the thermistor it was using because I was not using the thermistor it had listed. Second of all I changed it so I wasn't using any display whatsoever because I was not using any display and because I didn't want to damage my display like I almost have done a couple of times. Here is a link to the new configuration.h. Also it did not work because it wasn't reading anything from the thermistor and the motors wouldn't move. Thanks!!!
