6 finger griper

My wife has a  hair clip which somehow inspires me for a small griper with 6 fingers.
See how it works:

The 2nd video shows how it grabs a battery, of course this is more for soft things.

The thing is approx 4.5cm * 3cm  * 4cm and this would be a good griper for small things.

Did anybody make something like this?

This reminds me of Oddbot's Service droid, except it has only three 'fingers', two on one side and one on the other. About the right size to pick up a can of pop.  The way it's designed it should be easy enough to extend to make it six fingers, as it's made of laser cut plastic. You can see good images of the general design on the assembly manual pages 7-8, which is linked from the below. Should be easy enough to model it out for printing.

Yep that is similar. My griper would be smaller.

I was just thinking how to move the griper, there is a hinge in the middle with a spring which makes it close per default.
My idea is to place a servo with some kind of extending stick above the hinge.
If the servo turns, the stick turns and opens the griper.
The servo has to "work against" the spring - see also the small film, where I open it "against the spring".
That is just a simple quick drawing done with Linux program xfig:
