Dagu 4 Channel Motor Controller: motor connection wrong way?
« on: November 20, 2015, 10:24:50 AM »
Hello,

I am using this kit:
http://robosavvy.com/store/dagu-rover-5-arduino-kit-4-motors-and-4-encoders.html

The last one had problems with the encoders so I got a new one.
But when putting things together I had this problem again, that the motor connections are only fitting onto the Dagu 4 Channel in the wrong way:
red wire onto - and black wire onto +:

As far as I can see other people  have the same problem but seem to ignore it:

or simply cut the wires and resolder:

Last time I did not mind but this time I want to make sure that this is no problem.
Is that ok for the Dagu 5 Rover?

Consider your basic electronics, motors do not have a + and a - side as such. Run a current one way, they spin in one direction, run a current the other way, they spin in another direction.

I second 6677's sentiment about motors not having a positive and a negative side.

If you want the motor to spins opposite the way the current spin, you can swap the connectors without cutting the wire. You just need to lift a plastic prong and easy the metal connector out of the housing.

My fear was, that there is some additional electronics which might need correct + and -.
But everyone says that it does not matter so it is ok and seem to be motor only.
