Kama Wireless Wii Nunchuck

I purchased two of these wireless Nunchucks about a year ago.

I've been very pleased with how well they work.

They're powered with two AAA batteries.

I'm wary of clones of game controllers. I've previously purchased game controller clones with used lower resolution ADC on the joysticks. Often clones have really bad joysticks. I was very pleased with the quality of these controllers. The joysticks had a full 8-bit resolution (I've seen controllers with 5-bit joysticks) and the accelerometers also appeared to work well.

Not surprisingly, the receivers of these controllers don't have reverse polarity protection. As I mentioned in my Halloween Hex thread, I recently burned out one of these receivers by plugging in the little adapter PCB upside down. Of course under normal use (i.e. with a Wii console) one wouldn't need to worry about connecting the receiver upside down so it wouldn't be fair to fault the controller for not being able to survive reverse polarity.

I've found the wireless Nunchuck a really convenient controller to use. It's really nice to be able to control things one handed. I've found kids are very quick to catch on how to use the controller. The accelerometer allows one to provide four channels of input at once. It's even possible to fly a RC helicopter with a Nunchuck (though it doesn't make flying a helicopter any easier).

One downside to this particular controller is the price. I'm pretty sure a year ago it didn't cost as much as it does now. I've noticed this with other game controllers. As new game systems come out the older controllers become scarce and often increase in price. At $18 this isn't as attractive of a deal as it had been last year when it was about half this price.

I see there are several other brands of wireless Nunchucks. Some of these other brands cost less than this Kama Nunchuck. I may end up trying one of these other brands. If any of you try these other wireless Nunchucks before I do, I hope you let us know how well they work.

I think the Kama brand wireless Nunchucks work great.
