This is my first attempt at building a robot form scratch. Hopefully by starting this project, it will give me the incentive I need to follow through. My son started me on this journey. Wish me luck.

I haven't decided on the final look of the dragon, but I need a foundation to build uppon. Building a skelleton seemed like an obvious solution to this problem. I don't expect this to be an exact replica of a dragon skelleton, but rather something to model my support structure from.

My first robot post at LBR is going to be... My first robot! One I made as a kid in primary school.

Due to me being a hoarder, I still have him, and he's in pretty good condition! I haven't tried, but he might even still work. :P

I call this design 80's Retro Chic! :P Check out that state-of-the-art dot-matrix printed label on his front!! And I designed that logo too. :D

COR - Cassette Operated Robot (Even the name sounds 80s.)

Haha. Yup!! So retro!!

His lunchbox head could sit into the body like this!

Hi all,

Here is a quick intro to my new project: The Foosa (yes spelled wrong) ;)

It's my attempt on a h-bot style machine from scratch, I'll add more info later on here's some pics:

And finally moving

After doing the vid above I noticed the play on the "Y" axis which will hopefully fixed by the bicomponent epoxy I I generously applied ... need curing though ...

Update 1 Dec 2015 - Skew fixed

For a long time I have had this urge to build a 3D printer. Not because I want or need a 3D printer, but simply because of the build it self.

As always, cheapness is important to me, money is, like blood, a limited resource. I have used a lot of recycled parts for this. Mainly parts salvaged from ink printers. Did you know that almost every cheap printer that get trashed when the initial ink cartridge is empty, contains one or two smooth rods, usually M8, and if the printer had a built in scanner it is likely to have a stepper motor or two too. Let me show you:

This is and will be my ever evolving robot BoB. There have been a few revisions but all share the same basics. BoB is a 3D printed 4DOF walking(more like a waddle) robot based on minimal and simple to print parts, some 9G servos, a micro controller and optional parts like a sonar range sensor and LEDS.

V1:

BoB V1 was my first adventure into designing something to be 3D printed. i had no experience so it was bulky with 5mm thick walls. and simple because having never owned or used one i did not know the limitations of a 3D printer. i had servos on order, and no ping in hand. ...
