That is a great concept.... We have trams and trains here which indeed pick up power off suspended lines....however they are dependant on them. They are darn flux electromagnetic field noisy... blocking my bike heart rate monitor on certain parts of my circuit.
The buses have emergency fuel motors inbuilt however they then can only drive deaddeaddead slow..it's funny to watch them.
Indeed I have messed around with wireless power transfer ....but it is really inefficient ...scaled up to car size even more so.
I think Elon Musk's hyperlooping is the best way to go though.
When I retire I will invest in an electric bike.... By that time the e-bikes should also be self steering.
