Ebot SL - a decent cheap line follower kit robot. They make good gifts and prizes if you are in the need for them.

It's extremely clean looking. 

I am guessing no MCU, maybe just some kind of comparator circuit to guide it on its merry way? 

I could definitely see appropriately geeky kids getting a BLAST out of these.

The kids did a Full Contact Line Following Comp with these robots. It was a fun time, though the action gets a bit slow when you get down to the last 2.

Just built this similar-sized Bluetooth-controlled D2-6 robot. Line following is not as good as the $5 D2-1 after modding. It has two IR obstacle sensors. Bluetooth works from smartphone using tilt or pushbuttons. Just $12 from Banggood and easily hacked to change to your favorite processor. I'm adding a Picaxe 20M2.

Look closer. It's NOT Ultrafire, which is already a halfass brand. It's UitraFlrc, a bad knockoff of a halfass brand!

In reply to the guy having problems on the Parallax forum link you shared. Of the dozen that I bought for the kids, I had to replace 3 of the comparator chips after I made the original post on this forum. I could not get them to adjust out and follow the line properly. But ebay sells 5 packs for a couple dollars, so its a quick fix. They seemed to half work, but not be failed in a traditional sense. Its a weird problem that I attributed to typical "made in China" quality control.

Just started my D2-6 hack today and noticed the  kit is on sale for $11.19 at http://www.icstation.com/bluetooth-remote-control-smart-suite-tracking-kits-p-10171.html    for 6 more days if anyone "needs" a deal on one. Or two.
