Raspberry Pi android robot Piro2 - WIP
« on: December 19, 2016, 12:40:00 AM »
Hi all!

I thought I'd start a thread for my new work-in-progress Raspberry Pi -based robot "Piro2". My goal with this project is to create a robot that I can talk to, and get some sensible answers. I am not interested in just controlling it with my voice, I want it to have something resembling artificial intelligence. I plan to use my new 3D printer when printing parts for it, and as I am a programmer by profession, my main interest is in the software side of robotics. I have been writing blog posts about the development of my robot at http://piro.patrickaalto.com/piroblog.html and plan to continue to write those posts.

Here below is a Youtube video of me assembling the 3D-printed head parts for my robot.

Thanks for your interest!

Looking forward to how this works out. Interactive "head bots" as I call them are fun and with your software skills it should be impressive.

It is just me or would Piro2 look cool sporting some Steam Punk style goggles like my Steam Punk BoB wears? Lol

Thanks!

I think even the distance sensor looks sort of like goggles, but that is an interesting idea to dress them up a bit for a proper steampunk look. :)

I'll keep posting to this thread whenever I get something noteworthy done or post a new video. Currently delving deep into the Natural Language Processing routines...

Okay, finally a new video about my Piro2 project! I have been working on the natural language understanding stuff for several months now. Now finally I have the basic routines in place, so that I can start building the handlers for various verbs that the robot should understand. Yesterday I took a short video where I spoke various sentences with the verb "look" in them, and the robot would then parse the sentence, and either answer the question or look towards the given direction.

There is still a lot of work to be done, but it feels that I am finally on the right track... As always, more information on the blog at my Piro robot pages at http://piro.patrickaalto.com
