These are a must have for those who build circuits. (Radio Shack used to sell them....)

My color code calculator is a mnemonic ... BBROYGBVGW .... But its "too rude" to expand on here !
Its not a lot of use to me unfortunately because I'm red - green color blind  8)

Yeah we have all heard the sayings on the resistor colors. I found the calc style above on ebay for the same money as Radio Shack used to have.
I prefer the calc's as they make the process easier of matching colors to values. Though now the problem is with the led lighting making the colors appear bland!
Which is something that real light bulbs don't do. But that is another rant!  :-)
